In the end, my fifteen metres of pumpkin vines produced one single, solitary pumpkin. At least it was a beautiful orange colour inside and absolutely delicious as pumpkin soup and roast pumpkin.

That is a gorgeous pumpkin. What variety is it? I live in the States (Michigan) and am very interested in permaculture but can’t quite get a handle on what exactly it is. Your website has be thinking about feeding my chickens with fewer trips to the feed store though… amaranth and pigeon peas. Hmmm.

It’s a Jap pumpkin, also known as the Kent. Very popular in Australia.
